And you? When will you begin that long journey into yourself? -Rumi
I’m so glad you’re here…..
You are taking a brave step towards healing.
Hi! I’m Kathleen Converse, LCSW (she/her).
I will partner with you to create a compassionate, non-judgemental container, much like a chrysalis, for you to turn inward, heal and emerge your most confident and truest self.
My Approach
I take a personalized, collaborative and holistic approach to healing. I am trained in EMDR and Internal Family Systems Theory, and draw on somatic mind- body techniques in my work with clients. I use a strengths based approach to build on your existing coping strategies.
My Background
I got my Masters in Social Work from Portland State University. I spent several years after graduation working as a sexual assault advocate before becoming the Director of the Center for Gender Equity at a small university. I draw on my work doing interpersonal violence prevention, supporting survivors and LGBTQ+ students through higher education, and community activism, in order to provide trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive care. I love helping people cultivate healthier relationships with others and themselves.
My practice strives to be anti-oppressive, queer and trans affirming, neuro-affirming, and trauma- informed. I believe that individual healing creates ripples in the world, and that a more equitable and just world is possible starting by healing ourselves.
About Me
When I’m not working with clients, I am spending time with my partner and children, hiking, gardening, reading, and writing children’s books and passionate letters to my senators. I love spending time in nature watching the seasons change and often draw on nature based metaphors in my healing work with clients.
I love working with a diverse range of clients, but we may be an especially good fit if you are working through anxiety, trauma, perfectionism/people pleasing issues or relationship concerns. As a parent, I also love working with other parents around parenting challenges and navigating postpartum/transitions.
I’d love to connect and see if we could be a good fit.
